This great continent is home to some truly inspirational scenery and wildly romantic spots. North America is home to some of the best places to elope in the world. And now that elopements are on the rise, we’ve been busy collecting our top ten spots for you to consider for your own elopement.

When it comes to a modern elopement, you want the perfect blend of spectacular scenery coupled with a sense of adventure. And, it goes without saying, incredible photo opportunities. Take your pick of the collection below of the best places to elope in North America. Every single one encapsulates all of the above while retaining their own unique qualities.

1.Lake Louise, Alberta

A sense of adventure is always present when exploring Lake Louise, no matter your fitness or ability level. Find inspiration a short stroll around the lakeshore. Or strap on some boots and take to one of the more challenging trails. Heck, why not get in a canoe and glide through the pristine, glacier-fed water! If you visit in winter, you can even trek across a glittering frozen lake.

Add a little charm to your wedding photos by walking the famous Tea Hike. These trails lead to two different tea houses, where family-run businesses have been keeping up the tradition of serving tea on a mountaintop for over 100 years!

These historic tea houses have no electricity or running water. Some supplies are flown in by helicopter, but the fresh produce is brought up the trail by the staff themselves. They are a charming addition to the Lake Louise landscape and have become part of the scenery.

2. Horseshoe Bend, Arizona 

Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped “meander” of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona, in the U.S. It’s located close to Navajo land and is known for how the water curves iconically around, framed by those beautiful, dusty canyon walls.

Imagine a white dress captured against that warm, golden backdrop!

3. Joshua Tree, California

A favourite spot of Californian bohemians, visitors flock to Joshua Tree for the incredible sunsets, the peace and quiet, and the rugged wilderness. If wandering the desert in a long, flowing dress with your loved one by your side captures your imagination, Joshua Tree should be on your list.

4. Crater Lake, Oregon

Located in south-central Oregan, Crater Lake is a spectacular spot. It’s also one of the best places to elope if you’re heading Stateside.

It’s also the deepest lake in America. The blue water surrounding a volcanic island in the centre of the lake is one of the area’s most iconic views. Just be sure to visit in the summer if you want your elopement photos to capture that green and blue vista as the area freezes over in winter!

5. Yosemite National Park, California

A meadow in the lush green woods, a blue-tinged glacier, or the calm waters of a creek – these are just some of the shots you can capture for your elopement photos in world-renowned Yosemite. Imagine saying your vows in front of those jaw-dropping cliffs! 

Yosemite brings a wonderful touch of wilderness adventure to any elopement.

6. Tofino, British Columbia

This quaint village on the west side of Vancouver Island brings seaside fun and mountain beauty to your elopement. Kick off your shoes and stroll along the beach together to savour the moment once the “I do’s” are done.

Take some time to celebrate together in the area. Adventurous couples can take to the Pacific and surf or explore the surrounding forests before hanging with the locals in some of the gorgeous eateries dotted all around. If adventure isn’t your scene, there are lots of other activities to help you celebrate the occasion. 

7. Dunton Hot Springs Dolores, Colorado

Nestled in the Southwest corner of Colorado in the San Juan Mountains is a huddle of buildings sitting 8,600 feet over the Dolores River.

The hot springs here have been commercialized since the 1880s when the original mining family would charge miners a nickel for entry.

This is one of the best places to elope if you’re looking for peace and quiet away from it all. The remote spot is the perfect romantic getaway, although staying at the resort may set you back a chunk of change.

8. Sunset Point in Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

The road winds through the dusty canyon in Capitol Reef National Park, making you feel like one of the original frontier pioneers as you traverse the desert. The trails around the park are also easy to explore, and the hikes are easy for all levels of ability and fitness. 

Pro tip? There’s a reason one of it’s most popular spots is called “Sunset Point”. If you’re looking to capture stunning elopement photos, try to get there for sunset!

9. Rattlesnake Ledge North Bend, Washington

No matter what time of day you visit this place, the view will leave you breathless. And just because you haven’t opted for a big wedding doesn’t mean you can’t have a big space to say your vows!

Rattlesnake Ledge is a rocky outcrop on Rattlesnake Ridge that gives you panoramic views of the mountains and forest below. 

10. Prince Edward Island

If the Atlantic coast is more your scene, you’ll be delighted by what Prince Edward Island off the east coast of Canada has to offer. 

Explore the green, open fields and the gorgeous red-sand beaches. There are also several lighthouses that make the perfect backdrop for your elopement ceremony. If you and your partner are fans of seafood, you’ll be in good hands here. Princve Edward Island is well known for its fresh mussels and lobster – a delicious way to celebrate!
